Racing Roland
The ‘Rasender Roland’, as the Rügensche Bäderbahn is affectionately known, is a steam-powered narrow-gauge railway with a track width of just 750 mm, some of whose locomotives are almost 100 years old. The railway runs in the southwest of the island of Rügen on a 24.1 km route from the pier in Lauterbach via the towns of Putbus, Binz, Sellin and Baabe to Göhren. Another section of the line from Altefähr to Putbus was closed at the end of the 1960s. The ‘Rasender Roland’ made its maiden voyage as early as 1895 on the Putbus-Binz line, and since the maximum speed of a leisurely 30 km/h has not changed since then, passengers still have plenty of time to enjoy the passing scenery.
The Rasender Roland railway station is about 3 kilometres from the hotel and can be easily reached free of charge with the Binz local bus and your spa card.
